PS156被看做是可以容纳多种项目和功能的灵活空间。

PS156 is seen as a multi-purpose flexible space designed to accommodate a multitude of adaptable programs.

此栋建筑有一个Chocha食品店，还包括低层带有咖啡厅/茶室的餐厅，上层可合作办公的租用空间，以及未来的酒吧，车友休息站，实体商店和迷你阅览室。穿过耐腐蚀钢材门厅，一个镶嵌地砖的混凝土台阶引导人的视线向上；多种不同的活动空间被展示在暴露的天花板下。在底层，视线穿过柔色墙面给人多样感受。

The building is currently an electric mix of programed-housing Chocha Foodstore; a restaurant cum coffee/tea bar on the lower level with a lettable co-working space on the upper levels. In the pipeline,there will be a wine bar,bicycle repair station,pop-up store and a mini library.Beyond the Corten steel vestibule, a mosaic-tiled concrete staircase leads the eye to soar upwards;revealing a myriad of activities that make up the adapted space,housed under the exposed ceiling of clay tiles. On ground level,the eye travels through layers of pastel colored walls reflecting different feelings.

入口处老旧的瓷砖被挪走，留下原来的纹理。原来的油漆表面也做了相同的处理。在喷涂和烘干工作之后，场地被重新塑造成简单的色调。新的涂层给原本精美的漆面工作增加了视觉上的创新感受。

At the entrance, decayed tiles were removed to reveal the reverse patterns from the tiles to create a graphically textured wall. The original paintwork was also treated with the same care. After jet-spraying and drying, the areas were further cleaned to create an ephemeral gradation of hues. New layers of paint were added to create visual frames to the already delicate paintwork.

设计师保留了几乎90%的墙壁。墙面60%的瓷砖还保存良好，其余坍塌的部分也已被修护。 PS 156的前侧屋顶铺设原始瓷砖，后侧空间由沥青波纹板覆盖。设计师将建筑铺面区分开来，空间规划与现存客体相结合。

Designer retained almost 90% of the existing walls. The clay roof tiles from the collapsed roof were salvaged. With almost 60% of the tiles still in good condition,the front of PS 156 was roofed over with the original clay tiles.Bituminous corrugated sheets were used to roof over the rear volume. Designer identified and mapped surfaces and navigating the planning of the spaces to interface with the existing features.

Mah Lian Hotel的原始平面为一个提高的平台将场地平分开来。原始的马赛克瓷砖铺面庭院被保留，使客人感受到充满阳光的用餐体验。

In the original layout of the Mah Lian Hotel, an elevated platform bisected the longitudinal plan of the lot. The original mosaic-tiled courtyard was retained to offer a sun-drenched dining experience in Chocha.

易碎的老墙已无力支撑附加的荷载，设计师加入新的钢结构来支撑建筑。垂直空间的堆叠与屋顶下部结构相互交错。

The new steel structure had to be supported from the ground, as the fragile walls were not able to receive additional loads.The stacking of the vertical spaces is staggered to interface with the underside of the roof formation.

▼从工作空间之上的阁楼到底层，一个强烈的视觉体验将不同空间联合在一起，from the loft above where the working spaces are, a strong visual connection to the lower levels is evidently stitching the spaces together

PS156的低层空间都是由实墙分割，而上层则是木材插入夹板来分割多种具有私密性的空间。

The lower floors of PS156 are all about creating spaces from a framework of solid walls while the upper levels are about insertions into an open plan to extrude the space. On the first floor, the linear spine is accentuated with an insertion of timber batten pieces with plywood backing to create panels for visual privacy.

PS156吸引人的地方并不是它创新和改变的部分，而是被保存下来的过去的部分。

The allure of PS156 isn’t so much the stuff that is put in but rather what is left from its past.
