MAD no doubt is one of the most recognized architectural practices in China and worldwide. Every year, MAD receives countless job and internship applications. Who is your favourite architect? Why?
I don’t have a favorite architect because I appreciate all architects for the unique attributes they have. But I have one most meaningful architect, which is Zaha Hadid. I now possess a skeptical attitude towards her architectural view but her amazing projects and the unusual forms remindedme at my 2nd year of the existence of a bigger world, and that’s exactly when I began seeking my own architectural view. 
 
What is the major characteristic of your current school’s education?
Convention could be concluded as the major characteristic of Shandong Jianzhu University. Most of our tutors are graduates from Southeast University or other ‘classical 8 Universities’, and that gives a continuity of their educational style.
 
What have you gained during the MAD internship?
Internship at MAD gives me the first experience of working in real projects. The most valued fortune that I gained from MAD is my communication between my colleagues. My improvement, or the motivation of improvement, always comes after knowing something new or something better. MAD’s atmosphere, especially the amazing people, is just the source of my motivation. 
 
What are your thoughts and feelings upon Chinese Architecture and the environment? Any suggestion?
Singularity is expanding greatly in China. Sometimes I feel hard to tell a city from the other. On one hand I wish there to be more architectural styles to make our cities more identifiable, on the other hand forms of almost all projects depend on clients’ aesthetic standards. But if we viewthis phenomenon at a social level, as the responsibility of architects is to fulfill the need of society, the expanding singularity is merely a result
of social need. It’s about society, it’s about real. It has nothing to do with our so-called academic knowledge because most of the people, technically speaking, are not academically trained to establish some sorts of appreciation level as architects do. All they concern is the functionality of building instead of the appearance or style.My suggestion is just like most of other architects might suggest: keep seeking the balance of realism and idealism.
 
What is your dream?
Build my own aircraft. I’ll be an architect and make a lot of money, by which I can buy myself enough equipment to build my own aircraft.
 
What would you do if you were not an architect?
Aircraft designer.
 
What is your dream project?
My own house.
 
What is your favourite project in your portfolio? Why?
The two installation design, because the process of realizing them is so interesting and enjoyable.

最喜欢的建筑师是谁?为什么?

我没有一个最喜欢的建筑师,因为我欣赏所有建筑师身上独特的特质。但是我有一个对我来说最有意义的建筑师,就是扎哈哈迪德。虽然现在我对她的建筑观持怀疑态度,但是她令人惊叹的项目和非同寻常的建筑形式告诉了大二的我一个更大世界的存在,而那个时刻是我开始寻求我自己的建筑观的开始。 

你所在学校的教育特点?

‘传统’是山东建筑大学的主要教学特点。因为我们的老师大多来自于东南或者其他老八校,这使得我们学校在教育上存在有老八校的延续性。

你在MAD实习最大的收获是什么?

在MAD实习给了我第一次在实际项目中工作的经历。在这期间我获得的最有价值的财富就是和同事们的交流。我的进步,或者说进步的动力,都是在得知一个更好或者新事物之后产生的。而MAD的工作氛围,特别是那些牛逼闪闪的同事们,正是促使我不断产生前进动力源泉。

你对中国建筑的感触是什么?建议是什么?

单一性正在中国不断地扩大,有时我甚至很难区分一个城市和另一个城市。一方面我希望可以有更多的建筑风格可以让我们的城市更具可识别性,但是另一方面几乎所有的建筑项目的形式都取决于甲方的审美标准。但是如果我们从社会的层面上看待这个现象,正如同建筑师的职责就是满足社会的需要,扩大的单一性不过是社会运作的结果之一。这无关于所谓学术,而是关乎社会和现实,因为大多数人严格意义上并没有接受过学术的培训来建立某种和建筑师可以共鸣的欣赏水平,大众关注的往往更倾向于建筑的实用性而不是风格或者外观。我的建议可能和其他建筑师的建议一样:继续寻求现实主义和理想主义的平衡点。

你的梦想是什么?

建造我自己的飞行器。我会成为一个建筑师,然后赚很多钱来买很多设备,然后建造我自己的飞行器。

3.PHANTOM-The Performing Art Centre Design

该项目是一个大学生活动中心,主要使用了一套逻辑性比较强的参数化和集群智慧的设计思路设计完成的。

This is a performing art centre design, mainly carried out by logical parametric design method and swarm intelligence simulation.

根据基地周边的环境和地形定义引力点和斥力点,例如地势平坦的区域具备吸引人群进入的特点,故定义为引力点,而地势陡峭的区域具备排斥人群进入的特点,故定义为斥力点。在建立好基地的引力斥力模型后,向基地内撒入一群具备集群运动特点的粒子,并令其在引力点和斥力点的作用下进行运动,根据时间检测其运动轨迹,一段时间后结束集群运动的模拟,并提取运动区域的图样作为项目外轮廓的参考。

Site is defined with attracting points and avoiding points. For example, flat areas are defined as attracting points because people tend to gather around at such areas and vice versa for the steep areas. After the site model is built, a swarm of points is introduced into the simulation. The points will move under the regulation of swarm intelligence and the site definition. After a short period of simulation, the trail could be observedand utilized as guideline of the configuration of the building.

立面的设计则主要根据基地周边的景观轴线为主要参考完成的。

功能分区的决定则是通过使用软件对平面轮廓内“可达性”进行分析而完成的。通过‘可达性’的分析,可以界定出整个建筑的流线中,哪些区域是更容易被使用者抵达,而哪些区域是不容易被使用者抵达的。通过这种分析,将办公室等需要安静环境的功能放置在‘可达性’较低的流线位置,而将咖啡厅,休闲室等需要较多人气的功能放置在‘可达性’较高的流线位置。

Functional division are determined by the accessibility analysis, which shows by what mean could different parts be located scientifically. Officesor other parts that need a quiet environment are located at less accessible areas and public space such as cafe are located at more accessible areas.

济南市的老商埠区经历百年历史,由曾经的辉煌步入了现在的黯淡。在这个项目中我希望能通过对商埠区元素的统一,放大和重现来营造这个区域新的生命力,从而促发基地周边商圈的复苏。

After almost one hundred years’ history, the old commercial area of Jinan has witnessed prosperity and depression. In this project I tried to unify, amplify and reproduce the elements of this area to bring vitality back and motivate the commercial environment.

很多出现在‘规范’之前的建筑,特别是居民自主建造的民居或商铺,其中最突出的一个空间特点就是灵活性。不同的家庭在多年使用自己的建筑过程中会不断地改进自己的建筑以及周边的环境。这样的改进或者体现在加建一步楼梯,或者体现在两个商户间过街的桥梁,也可能是多层建筑围合的杂院中间一棵巨大的梧桐树。这种有机的互动是老街巷的识别卡。而在这种有机互动的空间环境中,任何一个细微的元素都是构成整个环境的必备元素,但是又不是任何一个元素都可以被抓住还原。而光恰恰是可以将这一切空间特性反馈到实际的使用体验中的。通过对光斑、光线、光柱的搭配,可以营造出‘大树下’,‘小巷中’,‘天井下’,‘窗台前’等等不同的场景,而这种场景的还原,正是在空间上对商埠区的重建。

One most outstanding attribute that all buildings, shops or houses included, share before regulations set, is the flexibility. Families bight keep reforming their buildings and surroundings, such as adding a staircase, building a tiny bridge to connect two shops, or planting a gigantic parasoltree in the centre of their yard surrounded by multi-storey residential. These types of interactive between people and building, is just the identification of the aged streets. But in complex real world, it is impossible to catch all these elements and restore them, although each element isnecessary. But light, as a direct reflection of all elements, could be utilized to restore all those spatial experience. A combination of light ray, lightbeam, light spot, could recur all scenes. Recurring all scenes is rebuilding of the commercial area.

在升华别墅设计里,我希望用空间传达一种‘淡然’-‘茫然’-‘压抑’-‘升华’的序列式空间感受。这个序列式空间感受中,可能代表着生命的一种循环,也可能仅仅是单纯的空间体验,不同的人使用它,带来的感受也不尽相同。别墅最核心的部分就是竖直的交通核,所有希望表达的意向都是通过这个核心来表达的。2F是主卧,在这个高度上,视野以巨大的落差脱离地面,可能带来的感受是‘脱离的’,‘孤独的’,在这种感受下,使用者会更倾向于聆听自我,便是‘淡然’。在1F则罗列了起居所需的房间和客房,这也就意味着日常行为将在这里发生,所带来的空间主题便是‘世俗的’,‘嘈杂的’,这种感受下对应的感受则是‘茫然’。顺着交通核继续向下,经过两层高差的楼梯可以到达地下通道,在这里,使用者要面对的,是‘黑暗的’,‘压抑的’,‘死寂的’,这个过程中,人会萌发‘反思’,‘抗争’,‘希望’等等在压抑中可能会产生的感情,这就是‘压抑’的空间感受。当使用者距离出口越来越近,会有光渐渐出现,带来了‘解脱’的暗示,而当使用者推开出口的那一刹那,迎接他的将是山谷下平摊的盆地。在这里将没有任何杂乱的元素,经历了之前的种种感受,使用者会在这里体会情绪的释放,进而迎来’升华‘。

In this design, I tried to convey a sequence of emotions in the order of  ‘pureness’-‘mess’-‘repression’-‘sublimation’ with the serial spacial experience. During this serial spacial experiences, you might find a loop of life as well as pure experience. It produces different understanding when used by different people.

Staircase is the core component of this design, it conveys all intimations. Master room is located at the 2nd floor, the height of the scenery-seeingwindow provides a feeling of ‘separated’, ‘alone’. Driven by these feelings, people tend to listen to themselves, and gain the understanding of pureness. Living room is located at the 1st floor, which mean that all daily behaviors occur here, and the feeling it brings is ‘mundane’, ‘noisy’. And people’s understanding of these feelings could be ‘mess’. If the user keep walking down through the core, he will get the underground tunnelafter a elevation difference of 2 storey .What’s waiting for the user is ‘darkness’, ‘silence’. As a result, people will soon generate a feeling of ‘repression’. Together with ‘repression’, people will have the feeling of ‘rethink’, ‘struggle’, ‘hope’. If the user keeps walking, a tiny beam of lightwill gradually appear and reminds him of the possibility of relief. As soon as the exit door is pushed open, the user will witness an awaited flattened basin down the valley. After such a long journey of different spaces and feelings, the user will finally experience the emotional releaseand gain the feeling of sublimation.

 

 

 

6. Arduino Prototype of Automatic Light-sensitive shutter

这是一个基于arduino开源代码板的小装置,由arduino uno,光敏模块,步进电机和角度传感器构成。当外界光线过亮时,光敏模块可以将亮度传达给arduino uno,由arduino uno 向步进电机发送脉冲转动百叶,在此过程中,转动角度通过角度传感器反馈给arduino uno,当百叶转动到预设角度后。运动将停止,光线变弱时反之亦然。

This is a tiny device based on arduino open source board, consisting of Aruduino uno, light sensor, step motor, and angle sensor. When over-exposed, light sensor gives a high-voltage signal to arduino uno, followed by arduino sending pulse signals to step motor to drive the shutters. Once shutters are turned to the correct angle, angle sensor will send signal to arduino uno so that arduino uno knows when to stop giving pulsesignals to step motor. Vice versa when light sensor is under-exposed.

 

 

 

7.盆景

这是一个非常有趣的设计,这个设计的’心脏‘是中间的上水石。这种石头密布小空隙和纤维管,可以利用毛细作用将水从盆底带到土壤的表面,完成了水的外循环。所以和普通的植物型盆景不同,有上水石的盆景,是可以支撑土壤下再多一层水环境的。直白的说,就是可以在盆景里养鱼。通过石块-石子-沙子-土壤将植物垫高,来杜绝植物的根被水浸泡而腐烂,同时上水石就可以将适量的水运送到土壤层供植物使用。

Bonsai of Chinese micro nature is quite interesting. the ‘heart’ of this design is the absorbent stone. This particular type of stone is very rich in micro pipes and crevice. Capillary action enables it to bring water from its bottom to its top as an external circulation of water.

Not like ordinary bonsais, bonsais with absorbent stone is capable to support an extra water-based environment at the bottom of the pot. In a nutshell, you can have water and fish in your pot, while blocking your plants from water with stones, gobbet, sand and soil so that the root will not decay of immersion, but your plant can still get water from the absorbent stone.

 

 

 

8.Cabin on Mountain in Pot

在电影黑衣人里,反派角色寻求的银河,最终不过是猫咪身上的一个项链装饰。
In the movie MEN IN BLACK, the precious galaxy that the villain looked for, finally, turned out to be an ornament necklace tied on a cat.

而中国的盆景表达着同样的想法:重要的事物未必总是伴随巨大的形态,有时微小的物件同样也可以描绘整个宇宙。
And the traditional Chinese art of Penjing(I know bonsai but I prefer Penjing here) conveys the same idea: those important are not always comingin large shape, and sometimes the micro things can also describe the universe.

在城市的喧嚣里,很难真正去寻求一处深山老林中的树屋,去体会苔痕上阶绿,草色入帘青的清秀生活。只得作一盆景,以寄情怀。
Part of the earthliness as we are, it’s really hard for us to find our own cabin on an aged mountain, let alone the experience of living in a natural way. All I can do is merely planting my thoughts in this pot and appreciating the green moss as if I’m a dwarf that is tiny enough to live in the pot.

    方案三里面的引力与斥力模型,设定在引力/斥力系统中的粒子单元实际上并不能与人类活动有可比性。没有办法模拟出环境对人类的影响的差别,还不如主观性更强一点的分析方案。

    实在看不惯那些说设计没深度的人,难道每个设计都要开辟一个新纪元?太扯了。作品是代表建筑师该时段的idea的,不要要求每个人都达到大师的水平,不实际。

  3. 同意楼下的 参数化的手段到了,但是事实上逻辑并没有到足够的深度 说白了参数化的手段依然就像一个傀儡一样,本质还是作者的主观控制。但除此以外,盆景的那几个很有意思,看得出作者对这方面有着真心的兴趣而不是像大部分人被MAD忽悠着牵着鼻子走的 支持

  4. 请问一下怎样去建立方案三的引力斥力模型,还有关于数字景观平台建立需要哪些软件?有哪位大神能告诉我一下么,我们单位非常缺少数字景观方面的东西,最近想做一些这方面的东西。

  7. 第三个作品,大学生活动中心。立意不错,用引力和斥力的概念,但具体怎样贯彻到设计中没有说明白,另外形体立面和造型只是说参考周边景观轴线,和平面功能分区借助可达性来分析。总之,没有一条说明白的,看得云里雾里,可达性本身是什么?这个概念可能都没有搞清楚,把城市设计概念引入到建筑中,也需要读懂。另外关于引力和斥力理论本身也与建筑学本身无关,行为学也不算,不知道这种软件模拟意义何在?MAD的这种设计只会把学生引入歧途
